Cerita ni dah banyak kali kita dengar.
'Kita semua ikut rule of law', 'Kami ikut undang-undang negara'.
Tapi bila kena batang hidung, cerita berubah. Threats and insults come out.
Baca sini - cerita dari Egypt, negara yg nak belajar demokrasi dari US.
Mereka sokong group yg lawan pemerintah. Bila kena tangkap, mak! Memekik macam-macam, throw insults, buat threats nak hold up duit IMF.
Jenuh dengar cerita gini.

BILA rakyat Palestin dulu undi Hamas (sebab ganas sangat), Amerika dan sekutu terus boikott Gaza. Kan mereka undi ikut demokrasi yg kamu ajar?
Saya pun tak sokong si Hamas ni, tapi itu pilihan rakyat sebab Hamas rajin tolong orang miskin, yg tak ada duit, yg tak ada makanan, dan kurang corrupt berbanding Palestine Authority.
THE law is only followed by these people when it dovetails with what they want. Otherwise, the law stinks to high heavens, ada konspirasi nak jatuhkan nama baik negara mereka, terrorisma orang gila.

SEMENTARA ITU, di Iran ada pilihanraya besar.
Kita pun nak tahu sama ada mereka akan ikut rule of law, atau jika kalah, menipu undi.
Pilihanraya tahun 2009 dulu, dah kalah Ahmedinijad dipercayai main tipu.

Gaya ni amat menyamai seorang pemimpin pembangkang di Malaysia. Siapa ye???
yg saya suka ialah perangai pembangkang singapore mahupun indonesia, filipina, thailand dan india etc.
mereka lawan pemerintah macam manapun, bila didapati bersalah, tidak akan menuding jari salahkan sistem corrupt atau hakim menipu etc.
walhal sistem di spore tentunya di suspect (tak ada bukti) pro-govt, sistem indon, thai, filipina dan india etc disuspect corrupt, hakim boleh dibeli etc.
jika semua issue dipolitikkan, akan menyusahkan diri kelak bila kamu berkuasa, sebab pihak lawan akan buat yg sama.
si amerika ni bila orang beri senjata dan bom serta hasut suruh orang serang negara dia, dia kata itu 'international terrorism'.
tapi dia dulu hasut dan bagi senjata dan sokong mubarak, gaddafi, shah reza iran, di tunisia berpuluh tahun etc (dan kini terus bantu rejim sekat hak rakyat di bahrain, saudi, etc).
bila orang tu dah agak lemah, cepat dia bagi wang, senjata dan hasut lawan mereka.
kini dia dah mula nak masukkan secara sonyap wang dan senjata
kpd pembangkang di syria. itu bukan international terrorism?

pada saya, mereka sama saja. merosakkan dunia kerana mahupun power.
tapi yg pandai gunakan media ialah usa. mereka pandai gunakan UN utk sekat itu dan ini nak control orang.
yg mengaku umat m bodoh sakan hanya pandai melaung tak pandai berstrategi.

So came back to catch up with bloggerworld and realised...
The world keeps spinning politics.
Round and round and round.
it seems that to be a much-read rich writer u hv to write what the audience wants to read. not what u want people to read.
in the fiction, science fiction, fantasy and even historical or military category of books, it is about sexing up an event, making it a fast-paced read.
few people want a well-considered but slow-moving story!
and in these days of the internet, people want to participate in things (interactive) - deswhy facebook, twitter, blogs are active. with many idiots commenting and adding their 2cents worth.
cannot write like 'i know everything, u just read this expert's book'.
if u see the books diplayed at kino kl n spore (fiction) - u will see many with words 'templar'. 'dragons'. 'war', 'treasure'. 'secret weapon'.
people like to read mystery-murder in a fancy setting with some treasures from the past buried somewhere.
tak guna tulis sejarah hang tuah (dah dongeng pun) dan kerajaan melaka kuno saja.
atau sejarah naga tasik chini saja.
tapi jika anda kata:
the portuguese conquerors are at the doorsteps of melaka 500 years ago. kota melaka is about to fall as cannons from portuguese ships are firing into the harbour. and hang tuah using only keris, mati katak with 1,000 other warriors, shot by portuguese firearms which these meleys had never seen before.
then maybe that is an exciting first 10pages.
but add this: while the fight at the harbour is ongoing, menantu sultan is busy at the back of the istana, hauling a thick metal box with the help of his chinese business partners (dari dulu pun bumiputera bodoh kerana diperkuda cheena - u can hint that in this thriller. heehee).
inside the box secured by a royal seal? a diamond-studded golden statue of Lancang Kuning, complete with silver sails, given by the king of siam 200yrs ago.
and inside a secret belly of the Lancang ship known only to the menantu and few others?
a treasure map showing the way from malacca thru the forests of pahang to Tasek Chini, where the 1,000yr old diamond mine called HartaQaroon is located. dat's where the diamonds on Lancang came from!
but beware, there is a dragon guarding the diamond mine in chini, pahang.
and the map has some ancient jawi-siam writing (only one left) showing the naga's weakness!
it can breathe fire and its roar will make your telinga pekak for 3days.
step on its shit and u become batu in 5minutes.
but do this trick and the mine is yours. the naga's only weakness:
organise a ceramah politik near the mouth of the mine, tell bullshit non-stop until midnite, and the naga will calibut.
to make sure the naga will never return, bring pasar malam with the ceramah and dirty up the forest. better sell, sell Soup Gearbox. the smell and tough hide n bones will kill any dragon.
there u go, ninot, a thriller sure to become no.1 on new york times and amazon.
I am so tempted to send you my Dreams of The Dragon - can give a better title?i. But I will wait until it is really done. Quite racy and not at all what I usually do.
Only the prologue and epilogue resembles the ori story.

my bookshelves are filled with books of adventure, secrets, dragons, nymphs, treasures and big sweeps of history. some of the best stories are facts of history that are intertwined and spiced with fiction.
i usually cannot finish boring thick books that are full of facts - i didnt finish a single book of lee kuan yew! (just get the gist). havent even opened mahathir's doctor in the house (cos scared it wd be too boring) tho i bought it months ago.
i love this pictorial book for kids - full of facts about ancient life (zaman takde jamban, takde aircon, takde mall, takde pc, no tv or radio, books were rare):
